Benefits Package

Probationary Period

Newly hired employees are considered probationary employees for the first six months of employment. If, after this timeframe, the Department Supervisor is satisfied with the employee's work and progress, an employee's status will be changed from probationary to regular and is then eligible for full benefits.

Health Insurance

Health insurance for the employee is provided and paid for by the Board of Public Works. The City of Hannibal/BPW Employees are insured under a self-funded insurance program. An employee may elect coverage for his dependents if he/she chooses. Please click HERE for the complete medical coverage information.

Dental Insurance

Dental insurance for the employee is provided and paid for by the Board of Public Works. The City of Hannibal/BPW Employees are insured through the Right Choice Dental Plan. Supplemental Insurance

Supplement Insurance, AFLAC is offered as additional coverage, to all BPW Employees and their dependents.

Life Insurance

The Board of Public Works provides term life insurance policy for all active employees. This policy is paid in full by the BPW.

Paid Holidays

All Regular Board Employees receive 12 paid holidays per year: New Year's Eve, New Year's Day, Washington's Birthday, Good Friday, Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, Veteran's Day, Thanksgiving Day, Friday after Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

Additional Benefits

All Regular Board Employees receive, a pension plan, vacation leave, sick leave and personal time.
