FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

HBPW TO REPLACE WATER MAIN ON MARSH AVENUE

May 8, 2018 – Hannibal, MO – Beginning this week, the Hannibal Board of Public Works Water crew will be excavating on Marsh Avenue to replace the existing water main and services.  The work will extend from McMaster’s Avenue to Overhill Street.

According to the Water department Supervisor, Gene Majors, the existing water main has had several large leaks in the past and is located deep in the ground which will make repairs slightly difficult for the crew.  The project will take several weeks to complete.  Due to the expected length of the project, Marsh Avenue will be closed to through traffic throughout the day, and crews will make every attempt to keep driveways open for property owners.  Residents in this area should not experience interruptions in water service until the end of the project.  HBPW personnel will notify customers of the temporary stop in service with a door-tag or in person.

Large equipment and supplies will be moving around the construction zone throughout the project, so for the safety of utility workers completing the project, the HBPW encourages the public to take an alternate route throughout the next few weeks.

Once the project is complete, the Street Department will repave the road.  If you have any questions regarding this project, please contact the Water department Supervisor at (573) 221-8050 ext 6021.
