The Hannibal Board of Public Works (HBPW) will begin replacing water meters the first week of April 2012 in Southside area of Hannibal.  The manufacturer’s recommendation for replacement of a water meter is every 10 years.  The current plan is to replace approximately 10% of water meters (about 750) annually using HBPW staff.

We apologize for any inconveniences this may cause customers.  There may be small periods of time in which the water service to your residence is temporarily interrupted during the changing of the water meter and any other associated parts.  There may also be small periods of time in which the electric service to your residence is temporarily interrupted to replace parts within the electric meters that assist with the automated reading of water meters.  HBPW crews will attempt to notify customers prior to any interruptions in water and/or electric service.

If you have any questions or problems related to the water meter replacements, please contact us through the HBPW dispatch phone number at 573 221-0955.  Please refer to the HBPW website at www.hannibalbpw.org for updates on the locations of the water meter replacements.
